why we exist
snafu is a 21st century music company.
Today, 70% of all paid music consumption in the world is divided between 3 major companies – UMG, Sony, and Warner. However, these three account for only around 1% of all the new music that is being released today.
This means there are a lot of under-appreciated, undervalued artists that never get the attention they deserve – snafu’s mission is to find these artists, and bring them to the world.
We use a mix of cutting edge machine learning techniques and the most talented creatives to find and develop the 30-40 most promising artists in the world.
Our algorithms identify and valuate around 1500 unsigned tracks every week, and then we use machine learning to filter those down to the 15-20 tracks with the most long term potential.
Our small team includes people that bring the best practices from various disciplines like tech (Lifesum), music (Universal, Sony/ATV, BMG), media (Banijay Group, Perfect Day), and even rocket science (Gulfstream Aerospace).
Our track record – while working at Universal, snafu founder Ankit’s algorithms identified the early potential in stars such as Tove Lo, Shawn Mendes, Mike Posner, and Jonas Blue. Carl Falk has written and produced for Charlie Puth, One Direction, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, The Killers, Avicii, and Jason Derulo, David Guetta, and others.
